3rd UN aid convoy arrives Sweida

The third relief convoy, provided by the United Nations World Food Programme (UNWFP), arrived in Sweida via the Damascus-Sweida highway. This follows the first convoy passing through the Busra al-Sham crossing before its closure, and the second via the Damascus-Sweida highway itself.

On Thursday morning, the third relief convoy, provided by UNWFP, consisting of 22 trucks and accompanied by a UN delegation, arrived in Sweida via the highway of Damascus-Sweida.

This convoy coincides with the preparation of a fuel shipment to meet the growing needs of the city and its countryside, amidst the ongoing shortage of basic commodities.

The first convoy entered through the Busra al-Sham crossing, while the second convoy crossed the Damascus-Sweida road. This road is currently considered the only passing way for civilians following the closure of the Busra al-Sham crossing, which had also been used for some commercial convoys.

It is worth mentioning that the UNWFP launched an emergency response in Southern Syria last week, aiming to deliver food assistance to all residents of Sweida and families affected by recent events. This is part of the UNWFP assistance provided throughout Sweida, Daraa, and Damascus countryside, following the escalation of violence that has displaced thousands of people.
