An ambush set by ISIS mercenaries in the Al-Tebni desert west of Deir ez-Zor, which is under the control of the Damascus government, resulted in the death and injury of three members of Damascus forces.

One member of the Damascus government forces was killed, and two others were wounded after falling into an ambush by ISIS mercenaries in the Al-Tebni desert west of Deir ez-Zor, which is controlled by the Damascus government. The ISIS mercenaries fled the scene on motorcycles to an unknown destination, according to the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights.

The Observatory reported that the two injured were transported to the Deir ez-Zor Military Hospital within the areas controlled by the Damascus government forces.

According to the Observatory’s documentation, the death toll from attacks in the desert since the beginning of 2024 has reached 487. This includes 49 civilians, among them a child, 409 members of Damascus government forces and allied groups, as well as 29 ISIS mercenaries. These individuals were killed in 176 attacks across various parts of the desert, including ambushes, armed assaults, and explosions in the Deir ez-Zor, Raqqa, and Homs deserts.

Most of these attacks took place in the Homs desert, with 78 attacks recorded, followed by 63 attacks in the Deir ez-Zor desert, according to the Observatory.
