27 civilians Killed, including 11 women, child, in areas controlled by Interim Govt in one month

A total of 21 murder crimes were recorded during the current month of January, claiming the lives of 27 people, including 11 women and one child.

Since the beginning of 2026, various areas under the control of Syria’s interim government have witnessed a worrying escalation in criminal activity and killings by unknown perpetrators, amid widespread security breakdown and the absence of effective accountability. This has resulted in dozens of civilian casualties, including women and children.

In this context, the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights (SOHR) documented 21 murder cases during January, which led to the deaths of 27 individuals: 15 men, 11 women, and one child. The incidents were linked to armed robberies, family disputes, and crimes driven by unknown motives.

According to the documentation, the crimes were recorded across several regions and cities, including Homs, Hama, Damascus and its countryside, Idlib, Aleppo, Deir ez-Zor, Daraa, and Sweida, reflecting the widening scope of security chaos and growing fears over the continued targeting of civilians.
