The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights (SOHR) released statistics today on violence in Syria, reporting 231 deaths amidst ongoing violence and violations across various parts of the country.

Civilians accounted for the majority of the casualties, totaling 202 individuals—comprising 166 men and youths, 16 women, and 20 children.

The Observatory noted that this continuing high casualty toll underscores the fragility of the country's security situation and the persistent threats facing civilians, driven by multiple sources of violence and diverse forms of violations.

It added that the casualties resulted from incidents linked to local infighting, homicide, stray gunfire, the explosion of war remnants and landmines, targeted killings, torture, and bombings, as well as violations attributed to various parties.

The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights emphasized that these figures highlight the need for more effective measures to protect civilians, ensure accountability for perpetrators of violations. And working to curb the impunity that contributes to the continuation of acts of violence.
