2 killed, 7 injured in 4 tribal clashes in Deir ez-Zor, Aleppo

The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights (SOHR) documented four family and tribal clashes in Deir ez-Zor and Aleppo provinces, resulting in nine casualties, including two deaths and seven injuries, as local tensions continue to rise in several areas.

In Deir ez-Zor province, one person was killed and three others sustained varying injuries in an armed tribal clash that broke out in Al-Azbah town, north of the province.

The towns of Dhiban and Khasham in eastern Deir ez-Zor also witnessed armed tribal clashes involving medium and heavy weapons, including shells and rocket-propelled weapons, amid a state of alert and calls for security forces to intervene to stop the confrontations and prevent their expansion.

In the eastern countryside of Aleppo, one person was killed and four others injured in the village of Ramala, in the countryside of Kobani, after a dispute escalated into an armed clash between members of several families over a renewed dispute regarding agricultural land ownership. The injured were transferred to nearby hospitals for treatment.

The SOHR called on relevant authorities to take urgent measures to control weapons, strengthen the role of security and judicial institutions in containing family and tribal disputes, pursue those involved in acts of violence, and support community reconciliation efforts.

The SOHR noted that since the beginning of this year, it has documented 86 family and tribal clashes in areas controlled by the interim government, resulting in the deaths of 69 people and the injury of 155 others, including three women and one child.
