Two soldiers from the Damascus government forces were killed in an attack by ISIS cells west of the city of Palmyra.

The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights reported that ISIS cells attacked a military post belonging to the 18th Division of Damascus government forces in the al-Duwah area west of Palmyra, leading to clashes between the two sides, resulting in the deaths of two Damascus soldiers.

Since the beginning of this year, the death toll from ambushes, armed attacks, and explosions in the Syrian desert has reached 500, including 49 civilians (among them a child and a woman), 29 ISIS mercenaries, and 422 members of the Damascus government forces, including 35 from Iran-backed groups.
