19 killed, injured in Kirkuk protests

The disturbances and demonstrations that took place in Kirkuk yesterday caused the death of 4 people, and the injury of 15 others, while calm prevails now, after lifting the curfew.

Yesterday evening, Kurdish citizens demonstrated in the "Rahim Awa" neighborhood of Kirkuk, in protest against the closure of the main road between Kirkuk and Hewler by those allied with the Kurdistan Democratic Party in the elections, where the demonstrators demanded that the road be opened to traffic, according to Roj News Agency.

The Iraqi security forces opened fire on the demonstrators to disperse the demonstrators, according to the latest statistics, 4 Kurdish youths lost their lives, and 15 people were injured as a result of the shooting by the security forces, and they are: "Hawkar Abdullah, Hussein Saber, Haval Sattar, and Hawri Akbar."

After the disturbances a curfew was declared in Kirkuk by a decision of the Iraqi Prime Minister, Muhammad Shia' al-Sudani.

It is expected that the Kirkuk deputies will meet the Iraqi Prime Minister in Baghdad today.

The meeting will be attended by all representatives of the various components in Kirkuk to discuss the latest developments.
