SDF launch "security reinforcement" operation in rural Deir-ez-Zor

The Media Center of the Syrian Democratic Forces published a statement announcing the launch of the "security reinforcement" operation in the countryside of Deir ez-Zor against ISIS mercenary cells.

The text of the statement read:

"In view of the terrorist operations that the Deir ez-Zor region has gone through, targeting the safe population, the dignitaries of the region, and the security forces by the cells of the terrorist organization ISIS, and based on the efforts of continuous communication between the General Command of our forces, the Syrian Democratic Forces, and the notables and sheikhs of the clans, the most recent of which are the recent meetings and the resulting recommendations and demands." To the people of the need to pursue terrorist cells, dry up their sources, and in implementation of their national and moral military missions, our forces launched at exactly 08:00 pm local time, Sunday, with the support and backing of the international coalition forces, the operation “strengthening security” in the eastern bank of the Euphrates, specifically in the Deir ez-Zor region.

This operation - with specific objectives - is an extension of the previous operations in Jazira and al-Raqqa region, aimed at eliminating the remnants of ISIS terrorist organization cells and preventing their potential operations, as well as tracking down criminals who committed injustices against the population, in addition to pursuing smugglers who traffic in the livelihood of the people.

This operation is one of the advanced stages in the joint struggle that our forces are leading with the support and backing of the international coalition forces against ISIS, and it will continue until the goals set for it are achieved.

The forces participating in the operation will work to establish security and stability side by side with the civil administration and notables of the region, and rely on the people's awareness of the dangers of terrorist cells and criminal elements. It will not hesitate to carry out its tasks and strike with an iron fist against terrorists, murderers and anyone who covers up for them."
