Today, dozens of male and female journalists gathered to participate in a protest organized by the Women's Media Union in front of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) building in the city of Qamishlo.

The member of the Women's Media Union, Avin Ibrahim denounced the Turkish occupation state's continuous attacks on the region, by saying: "Since the beginning of the revolution in NE Syria, the attacks of the Turkish occupation state on the region have not subsided, and without a doubt, the Turkish occupation targets the media because it exposes its crimes and violations."

She referred to the occupation's attack on the JIN TV satellite channel on the Qamishlo-Amouda road, and said: "In continuation of its attacks, the Turkish occupation targeted yesterday a car carrying journalists, during which Najm al-Din Faisal was martyred and colleague Dalilah Akid was injured."She called on international bodies to protect journalists from thaes attacks.

For his part, the co-chair of the Free Media Union, Dilyar Jaziri, said, "The Turkish occupation state targets female and male journalists to cover its ongoing violations and crimes in the region."

He added, "The Turkish occupation state targeted the journalist Issam Abdullah in the village of Taqel Baqel while he was covering the Turkish bombing on the area, and in Sere Kaniye, it targeted the journalist Saad Ahmed."

He stressed, "We, the members of the Women's Media Union and the Free Media Union will continue the path of our martyred fellow journalists in documenting the crimes and violations of the Turkish occupation in the region, and we call on the authorities concerned with protecting the rights of journalists to show their position and take urgent action against these attacks."
