Significant increase in pollution levels on the two banks of the Euphrates

The two banks of the Euphrates River in North and East Syria are witnessing a significant and noticeable increase in pollution levels, with the continued blocking of its water by the Turkish occupation state and its receding from large areas of land.

Video clips taken by ANHA agency's correspondent show the high levels of pollution in the river's waters. As a result of the Turkish occupation state continuing to block the Euphrates from the Syrians for more than 30 continuous months.

The occupation state's blocking of the Euphrates River water led to its transformation into swamps, and the lakes lost large quantities of the strategic levels they store, which negatively affected electricity generation, drinking water security, and agriculture.

The river’s cessation of flow led to an increase in the pollution rate, which poses a great threat to the lives of the residents on both banks of the river, as many Syrian villages and cities depend on the river’s water as a source of drinking water, and with the high pollution rate, health centers in north and east Syria monitored on a monthly basis, Hundreds of sick cases of poisoning and infections as a result of consuming unfit water directly from the river.
