With the fifth anniversary of the occupation of Afrin by the Turkish occupation army and its mercenaries, and the continuation of their crimes against the people and nature of Afrin, the Democratic Society Movement issued a statement to the public opinion.

TEV-DEM, at the beginning of its statement, recalled the martyrs of the Resistance of Age, and said: "We bow to their greatness and to all the fighters, the injured, and the patriots who resisted the Turkish fascist occupation and excelled in writing the most wonderful epics of historical heroism."

And it continued: "The occupation of Afrin wasn't easy, but the Turkish occupation state and its mercenaries incurred great losses in terms of material, moral and ethical aspects, and proved that it is a force with an unjust, fascist, terrorist mentality as a result of its illegal actions and behaviors."

Five years have passed since the Turkish fascist occupied Afrin, what this occupation and its mercenaries offered is striking and destroying the cultural structure and historical human and societal values completely , fighting the Kurds and denying their historical inheritance. Everyone remembers how they attacked like monsters the statue of Kawa, who with his struggle defeated the greatest unjust dictatorship in history, for the victory of the will of freedom and social justice against the cowardly tyrants, and proven their that they are cowards and tyrants, and have proven their hostility to the standards and principles of the democratic system throughout the region.

The statement talked about the support of "extremist Islamic organizations in Qatar, Kuwait and Palestine for the Turkish occupation state to produce terrorism and mercenaries, build settlements and demographic change," and added: "With the sponsorship of the Turkish occupation state, some governments and some extremist Islamic organizations in Qatar, Kuwait and Palestine, they turned Afrin region into the most dangerous area for gathering Salafis and extremists in the region to produce terrorism and mercenaries, and their support comes with money, weapons, and through the policy of demographic changes in building settlements to settle terrorism and mercenaries in them and revive them with systematic annihilation policies by the Turkish occupier."

It stated: "Amidst the continuous daily violations and crimes against humanity and the values ​​of nature, through the continuity of logging, burglary and looting of property, abduction of citizens, which are practiced relentlessly, and the spread of mercenary factions with different names and nationalities, heavily armed and with extremist ideology everywhere, they divided Afrin into multiple parts, so that each part becomes a training center for training and building generations of extremism and terrorism, and all that is happening in front of the eyes of the international community, which is inattentive to these tragic and difficult conditions, and with the continuation of this occupation in this way, humanity will face a real threat to its security and stability.

TEV-DEM affirmed that the occupation and mercenaries targeted security and stability and distorted the lives of the children of Afrin, "stripping them of their human rights as children and preventing them from practicing their mother tongue and naming Kurdish names, even women were imposed on them a dark, black culture that expresses occupation and mercenaries, to keep them away from protecting the customs and moral traditions that Afrin women are known with culture and nature. it has torn the cohesion of cultures and the core societal values that prevailed before the occupation, so their goal was to empty Afrin of its original inhabitants to displace and exterminate them physically and culturally.

It said: "Afrin lives today in a state of instability and security and is going through the most difficult and tragic human conditions as a result of the fascist hatred of the Turkish occupation towards the will and resistance of the peoples, especially the Resistance of the Age, which drew and wrote the most wonderful historical pages of resistance and struggle, which became the epic of fifty-eight days, the biography of the Resistance of the Age because it resisted, with its own organized capabilities, the most powerful fascist state that has a fascist army that leads global terrorism, and the occupation is still pursuing the Kurds and the displaced residents of Afrin in the Shahba areas with war and catastrophic annihilation, and commits crimes against humanity although the presence of Russian military points and the forces of the Damascus government in that region, but without a response as a result of the validity of the Astana agreements to prolong the life of the crisis and protect the Damascus government, therefore we bear responsibility for the Russian role that is completely absent from the situation and didn't play its positive role in the political process.

And saluted the resistance of the people of Afrin and their steadfastness towards the occupation and the siege of the Damascus government in the displacement camps, "We in the Democratic Society Movement TEV-DEM salute the moral and humanitarian stances of the people of Afrin and their steadfastness inside Afrin, and all the displaced in Shahba who heroically resist the occupation and war on one side, and on the other side the political siege that is imposed by the Damascus government, and what the Afrin region is witnessing, the people's exposure to violations and immoral crimes, the painful catastrophic incidents, and the tragic situation of the displaced people of Afrin in Shahba by the policies of the Turkish occupation state and its mercenaries, is the absence of the main role of the United Nations and its humanitarian and human rights organizations.

At the end of its statement, called for putting the liberation of Afrin in the priority of the struggle to end the Turkish occupation in Afrin and the rest of the Syrian regions, "All patriotic and political powers, societal cultural activities, civil society institutions, women's movements and youth must put the liberation of Afrin in the priority of our struggle and diplomatic struggle and follow the philosophy of cohesion with the resistance of the age to end the Turkish occupation in Afrin and the rest of the occupied Syrian regions."
