​​​​​​​AANES announces withdrawal of aid convoy…Damascus government prevent its crossing

The Autonomous Administration of North, East and Syria announced the withdrawal of the aid convoy, through a statement read by the co-chair of the Social Affairs and Labor Committee in the Autonomous Administration, Farouq al-Mashi, at al-Tayha crossing that connects the areas of the Autonomous Administration to the areas of the Damascus government..

The statement touched at its beginning, "Since the 7th of this March, the aid convoy provided by the people of the Sulaymaniya region in the Kurdistan region, entered the regions of NE Syria through the Tal Koçer (Al-Yarubiyah) crossing on the 6th of March, Which the Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria ensured, to deliver it to the Al-Tayha crossing, which connects the regions of NE Syria and the areas controlled by the Damascus government, in order to deliver it to our Syrian people affected by the devastating earthquake that struck Syria and Turkey on the 6th of last February, is at the crossing.

And added "Since that date, although 7 days have passed since the aid arrived at Al-Tayha crossing, the Damascus government refuses to bring this aid into the affected areas."

The statement pointed to the efforts of the Damascus government, "This position on the part of the Damascus government indicates its efforts to seize and trade in the aid provided to the afflicted."

Noting that this position of the Damascus government is contrary to all the resolutions of the United Nations and international organizations, which affirmed that the crossings must be opened, and assistance must be made effectively and quickly to deliver aid to the people affected by the earthquake.

The statement announced that the Autonomous Administration had to withdraw the convoy "because of the Damascus government's commitment to politicizing aid, obstructing its arrival to our afflicted Syrian people, and the failure of all communication channels to persuade the Damascus government to open the crossing for aid, and after 7 days have passed since the aid stopped at al-Tayha crossing, we are forced to withdraw this aid from the crossing, and transfer it to a safe place, until the Damascus government agrees to enter it."

The Autonomous Administration appealed to international forces, organizations and institutions concerned with humanitarian affairs, to put pressure on the Damascus government, "to reverse its positions that are contrary to all international standards, and to open the crossing so that the Syrians, as well as those who provide aid, can deliver their aid to the afflicted.
