Noon for Ocalan's Freedom, initiative reveals results of its meeting with EC

The "Noon for Ocalan's Freedom" initiative organized a symposium in the Lebanese capital, Beirut, to convey the results of its visit to the European Council and the CBT Committee against Torture, coinciding with the 24^th anniversary of the arrest of leader Ocalan.

 The symposium began with a minute of silence on the souls of the martyrs, before talking about the initiative launched by feminists and human rights activists from the Middle East and North Africa, which aims to seek the release of the leader Abdullah Ocalan, and to introduce his idea and disseminate his ideas and philosophy, in addition to introducing his tireless struggle to support the oppressed peoples and supporting peoples' right to self-determination.

Results of the visit of the European Council

 In a speech on behalf of the initiative delivered by a member of the initiative, Souad Mahmoud, she said that the thought of the leader Abdullah Ocalan spread despite his physical arrest. This happened through the lawyers meeting with the leader weekly, but when they sought that he spread his idea, they reduced the visit to once a month, then once every six months, then once  per year, and the last time was 2018.

 Mahmoud expressed the concern of the members of the initiative, the Kurdish people, and those who believe in Ocalan's thought, about the leader, as a result of his continued physical detention.

 The member of the initiative confirmed that this concern prompted us to establish several initiatives, including Syrian, Egyptian, Arab and international, in addition to the Noon initiative headed by Ms. Sawsan Shoman, who met with the European Council, which responded to her requests to release leader Ocalan, but the council confirmed that the Turkish authorities do not  She responds to it and refuses to release him physically from Imrali prison.

Suad Mahmoud added that the CBT Committee against Torture refused to meet the delegation of the "Noon Initiative for Ocalan's Freedom", and attributed this to pressure from the Turkish authorities.

 The symbolism of the leader and the Kurdish issue

 After the end of the speech of the Noon initiative, the attendees confirmed that the Ocalan thought had transcended the Middle East region, crossed the continents, and transcended geographical dimensions and political borders. The free peoples see the adoption of these ideas and their inspiration breaking the yoke of slavery and the shackles of tyranny.

 They added that the Turkish state, no matter how hard it tries to isolate the leader Ocalan, "will not be able to block his ideas and philosophy from the peoples who believe in him, as his bright aspirations and philosophy have become an intellectual fountain that has transcended the walls of the silent prison, and the island of Imrali has become a source of intellectual, civilizational and human radiation."
