​​​​​​​4th Division obstructs every measure that would spare people death

On Sunday, the General Council of Sheikh Maqsoud and Ashrafieh neighborhoods made a statement to the public opinion about preventing the “Fourth Division” affiliated with the Damascus government from sending machineries to demolish buildings that are expected to collapse after being damaged. As a result of the earthquake that affected many Syrian regions, February 6th.

The administrators of the councils and the General Council of the Sheikh Maqsoud and Ashrafieh neighborhoods gathered in front of the tents that were erected in the shrine of the martyrs located in the Shaqif neighborhood in the city of Aleppo. To deliver the statement, which was read out in Arabic and Kurdish by the co-chairmanship of the Sheikh Maqsoud and Ashrafieh neighborhoods, Welat Mamo, and Heavin Suleiman.

The statement began with mercy on the souls of the victims and wishing recovery for the injured, and added: "The neighborhoods of Sheikh Maqsoud and Ashrafieh are among the neighborhoods that have been subjected to fierce attacks in the past, as they were damaged by the earthquake that struck Turkey and regions in Syria, and therefore their homes have become fragile and are liable to collapse at any moment."

He continued, "We started to secure shelter for those whose homes were affected by setting up tents and opening halls, mosques and schools, in addition to providing aid such as blankets."

The statement denounced the siege imposed on the two neighborhoods by the "Fourth Division", and explained that "there is aid at the gates of Aleppo, but the Fourth Division prevents its passage to it and from it to the two neighborhoods, knowing that there is an urgent need for that aid."

The statement concluded, "The siege exacerbates the crisis, we need machineries to demolish those buildings that were damaged by the earthquake, because they are liable to collapse at any moment, but our capabilities are small and the Fourth Division stands in the way of our work to save the lives of the people."
