​​​​​​​New decision bans meeting leader Ocalan for another 3 months

The leader, Abdullah Ocalan, has been detained under strict conditions of isolation in the maximum security Imrali prison for 24 years. As for the other Imrali detainees, Umar Khairi Konar, Veysi Aktaş and the Yildirim, no information has been reported for 21 months. All requests submitted by the lawyers of the Legal al Asr Office, who are in charge of defending the leader Ocalan and the three other detainees, and requests submitted by their families under various pretexts such as "disciplinary punishment" and "banning the meeting" are rejected.

The new ban

Recently, specifically on the ninth of last September, a "disciplinary punishment" was imposed on the leader Ocalan and the rest of the Imrali detainees, and the validity of this punishment expired on the ninth of last December. After that, on the fifteenth and twenty-third of last December and the third of January this year, the lawyers submitted three requests to the Public Prosecution and the prison administration, but they did not get any results.

The Execution Court in Bursa informed the lawyers that a new ban has been imposed on the leader Ocalan and the rest of the detainees, as the decision prohibits the leader and the detainees from meeting with their families for another three months. This decision was taken on the fourth of this month, while the court invoked the disciplinary punishment as an excuse for the ban. However, no information was provided on the reason and date for imposing the disciplinary penalty.

Lawyers will refer to the Supreme Constitutional Court

On the tenth of this month, the lawyers of the leader Ocalan and the rest of the detainees in Imrali filed an objection against this ban, but the Supreme Criminal Court in Bursa rejected this objection request on the same day.

The lawyers announced that they would appeal to the Supreme Constitutional Court against the decision banning the meeting.
