Turkey kills 30 citizens and injures 86 from Afrin and Shahba people in about 5 years

The Turkish occupation army and its mercenaries continue to commit crimes and massacres against the IDPs of Afrin and the people of Shahba Canton, by targeting them with drones, artillery shells and missiles, in addition to internationally prohibited weapons.

Since the occupation of the city of Afrin in March 2018, the Turkish occupation has targeted the villages and areas of the displaced people of Afrin, especially the camps they live in after their displacement about 5 years ago.

4 massacres

Since that time, the Turkish occupation army and its mercenaries have committed 4 massacres against the IDPs of Afrin and the people of Shahba Canton.

*The first massacre was committed in Tal Rifaat district against the IDPs of Afrin on December 2, 2019, which resulted in the martyrdom of 10 citizens, including 8 children under the age of 15, and the injury of about 13 citizens, most of them children.

The martyrs are: Abd al-Fattah Aliko (3 years old), Aref Muhammad Ja'afar (6 years old), Muhammad Muhammad Omar (7 years old), Imad Ahmed Kifo (9 years old), Mustafa Muhammad Majeed (10 years old), Hamouda Muhammad Ali (11 years old), Samir Abd al-Rahman Hesso (12 years old), Muhammad Abd al-Rahman Hesso (15 years old), Ali Mahmoud Othman (54 years old), and Hussein Abdullah (73 years old).

*The second massacre was committed on February 25, 2020, against an entire family of the IDPs of Afrin, are: husband, wife, and their daughter, and 3 others were injured, in the Turkish occupation's bombing of the village of Aqiba in Sherawa district.

The martyrs are: Hassan Izzat Muhammad (55 years old), Fatima Ahmed Ali (46 years old), and  Sarwesht Hassan Muhammad (12 years old).

*As for the third massacre, it was committed against 2 children and a woman, and 7 others were injured in Tal Rifaat district, on January 23, 2021.

The martyrs are: Majed Yasser Sakran (5 years old), Abd al-Mohsen Sakran (12 years old), Nazli Muhammad Mustafa (55 years old).

*And the fourth massacre, which was committed against 4 citizens, and injured 5 other citizens, in the center of Tal Rifaat district, on August 24, 2022.

The martyrs are: Hamza Ibo Brim (21 years old), Rashid Aliko (28 years old), Fatima Othman Mamo (21 years old), Zuhair Abd al-Rahman Muhammad (36 years old).

The injured are: "Ageed Fakhri Rashid (32 years old), Adham Rashid Hanan (54 years old), Hussein Hussein (13 years old), Samir Abd al-Qader (31 years old), and Manan Rashid Hussein (57 years old)."

On July 26, 2022, the Turkish occupation army bombed the vicinity of the city of Tal Rifaat and its affiliated village of Sheikh Issa, and the villages of Shra and Sherawa districts, with more than 940 artillery shells, (17years old) woman martyred and wounding 5 women.

On August 4, 2022, the Turkish occupation army targeted, by a suicide drone, the center of the city of Tal Rifaat, wounding 9 citizens, 6 of whom were children, the citizen Hussein Aliko, who is the father of one of the children injured in the aforementioned massacre, was also injured in this attack, where he lost his eye.

During the attacks launched by the Turkish occupation army on NE Syria since the night of November 19-20, 2022, 2 citizens were injured in the village of Deir Jamal in the Sherawa district on November 20, and 2 other citizens were injured during the Turkish occupation army's bombing of the village of Soghanka in the same district on the 29th last November.

116 citizens were martyred and wounded

According to the statistics of the Kurdish Red Crescent and Afrin Hospital, the number of martyrs and injured since the beginning of the displacement of the people to Shahba Canton and Sherawa district reached 116, as 30 citizens were martyred, including 13 children and 7 women, and 86 were injured, including 39 children and 25 women, as a result of massacres and shelling by the Turkish occupation army and its mercenaries at different times and places, since the occupation of Afrin Canton.

About 350,000 citizens live in Shahba Canton and the districts of Shra and Sherawa, including the original residents of Shahba. More than 22,000 citizens live in Tal Rifaat district, including 7,000 from the original residents of Tal Rifaat

There are 5 camps in Shahba Canton and the district of Sherawa for the IDPs of Afrin, which are (Berxwedan in Favin district, Afrin in al-Ahdath district, Serdem in the village of Tal Sawsan of al-Ahdath  district, and Shahba in Shirawa district), where about 10,000 people live in each camp, who are exposed almost daily to the attacks of the Turkish occupation army and its mercenaries.
