An air strike on a convoy of about 15 trucks carrying fuel and weapons across the Iraqi border to Syria killed more than 10 people, according to the Syrian Observatory.

Sources told Associated Press that an air strike on a convoy carrying fuel across the Iraqi border to Syria killed several people on Tuesday evening.

The sources told the Associated Press that the strike hit a convoy of about 15 trucks that crossed from Iraq to Syria near al-Qaim.

The agency indicated that it was not immediately clear who was behind the strikes, but paramilitary officers in Iraq told the agency that some of those killed in the attack were Iranian.

Syrian Observatory for Human Rights said in the same context that an unknown aircraft targeted the Syrian – Iraqi border in the eastern countryside of Deir al-Zor at midnight yesterday.

SOHR pointed out that the trucks loaded with weapons and oil tanks of Iranian groups in the area of customs square in Al-Hari and the military gate in the countryside of Al-Bukamal, east of Deir al-Zor, in addition to targeting a military site of those groups near the area.

According to the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, 14 people have been killed so far, most of them from groups affiliated with Iran.
