​​​​​​​ Lawyer: Turkish occupation state is obligated to implement the provisions of 1992 treaties and agreements

 On October 18, the leadership of the People's Defense Center (NPG) issued a statement, confirming that the Turkish occupation had used chemical weapons and banned bombs 2,467 times, and that its recent chemical attacks had resulted in the death of 17 fighters of the Guerilla.

 Lawyer and member of the Lawyers Association in Al-Hasakah Canton, Kawa Fatmi, confirmed that the Turkish occupation state uses internationally prohibited weapons against humans and stones in the legitimate defense areas, and said, "The Turkish occupation state is determined to strike the resistance of the guerrilla fighters."

 He explained that it continued to use chemical weapons, which are internationally banned, in violation of the Hague Treaty, which entered into force in 1997, to ban the use of poisonous and asphyxiating gases by any of the parties and the signatory state.

 Fatimi stressed that the countries that ratified the Hague Treaty of 1935, the Geneva Convention, are obligated under these texts to prohibit their use against any country or any military group, whether inside or outside it, during armed conflicts.

 Fatimi pointed out that the Turkish occupation state ratified all treaties and agreements that prohibit chemical weapons in 1992, and said, "The Turkish occupation state is obligated to implement the texts of the treaties, and not to stockpile and use these weapons."

 The crimes of the occupation and the practices of the PDK are inconsistent with the international treaty

 Fatemi condemned "the practices of the authorities of the Kurdistan Democratic Party, which prevented a delegation from the International Doctors Association for the Prevention of Nuclear War, which visited southern Kurdistan on September 20-27, from going to the legitimate defense zones, to detect the use of chemical weapons by the Turkish occupation state," considering them as  a deliberate scheme to cover up the crimes of the Turkish occupation.

 Fatimi described the suspicious and shameful behavior of the Kurdistan Democratic Party (PDK) preventing the delegation of the International Doctors Association, which serves the human and humanitarian community, from going to those areas, and said, "This behavior indicates the cover-up of the crimes of the Turkish occupation that are contrary to the international treaty."

 At a time when the Turkish occupation launched its attacks with chemical and tactical weapons against the HPG, since mid-April 2022, the Kurdistan Democratic Party announced, on April 17, 2022, the confiscation of 1,200 protective masks for guerrilla fighters to protect themselves from those chemical weapons and poisonous and asphyxiating gases.

 Fatemi considered that the KDP's confiscation of the masks from poisonous and suffocating gases, which were sent to the Popular Defense Forces, is a blatant interference and an effective participation in the extermination of freedom fighters and covering up the crimes of the Turkish occupation.
