Italian journalist: Turkish state commits war crimes to weaken the Autonomous Administration

Italian director and journalist Benedetta Argentieri won the Phoenix Award at the 32nd Cologne Film Festival, for her documentary titled "The Matchmaker.

The award was given to the people of NE Syria, and the Italian director and journalist said: "I gave my award to people in north and east Syria, in order to draw attention to the situation there."

She added to ANHA agency, "The Turkish state is committing war crimes in the region, attacking civilians with drones, and killing women who are active in society, in order to weaken the Autonomous Administration in NE Syria."

And earlier last week, during the awards ceremony at the Cologne Film Festival, Benedetta said in her speech, "A new democratic and ecological society is being built on the basis of women's freedom in north and east Syria," adding: "With the leadership of the Kurds, Arabs, Assyrians and women, the new society advances slowly, but we all learn things from it."

She also said, "They fought against ISIS, defended Europe, it was not easy for the democratic Autonomous -Administration, Turkish occupation kills the people, especially women, with drones."

She stressed the success of Democratic Autonomous Administration, describing it as "a project that will change the Middle East and bring peace after many wars, and for that, this award is presented to the brave people there."

The movie "The Matchmaker" talks about a British woman who joined ISIS in Syria and became a preacher, and also highlights the active role of women in ISIS mercenaries, according to the Italian director."
