​​​​​​​Department of Foreign Relations hands over 38 children to Russia

The operation of handing over of children came during an official visit by a Russian delegation headed by the Russian President's Commissioner for Children's Rights, Maria Lvova Belova, to the city of Qamishlo, and her meeting with AANES’ officials at the centre of the Department of External Relations of the Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria, this afternoon.

The protocol for handing over the children by the Autonomous Administration was attended by Khaled Ibrahim, a member of the administrative body in the Department of Foreign Relations.

ANHA’s correspondent confirmed from inside the Qamishlo External Relations Service that the handing over followed a meeting between the parties and a press conference on the handing over process, which was attended by local and international media.

During the press conference, the Russian President's Commissioner for the Rights of the Child, Maria Lvova Belova, addressed "the role of AANES the fight against terrorism and the file of families of ISIS mercenaries.”

She thanked the head of the delegation of the AANES and expressed Russia's gratitude to it; support and cooperation for the accomplishment of such humanitarian tasks and operations ", adding "Her country will remain committed to its humanitarian obligations towards its nationals."

On his part, Khaled Ibrahim, member of the administrative body of the Department of External Relations, stressed the need to confront ISIS mercenaries in the region and the need for the international community to assume its responsibilities by providing political, economic, relief and security support to the AANES’ areas and returning its nationals.

After the press conference, the visiting Russian delegation escorted the 38 children, and they left the center of the Foreign Relations Department.
