​​​​​​​After 5 years, Turkey establishes 20 settlements in occupied Afrin

 The Turkish occupation state has worked, during about 5 years, to establish 20 settlements in occupied Afrin, working to establish more of them, not to mention random camps to settle families from different Syrian regions to change their demographics, Turkification, and separate them from the entire Syrian geography.

 The Turkish occupation state continues to build settlements at a high rate in the occupied areas, in the context of changing its demographics, in light of talk of deporting about one million "Syrian refugees" from its lands and resettling them in the occupied north of Syria.

 The Turkish occupation aims, under the pretext of establishing a “safe zone” in Syria, to restore the borders of the “Mili Charter” from the Mediterranean in the west to Mosul in the east, and to revive the defunct “Ottoman” one.

 Establishment of 20 settlements in the villages of the occupied canton of Afrin

 The Turkish occupation state resorted to the Qatari and Kuwaiti Brotherhood associations, with funding from European countries, to build settlement complexes, under humanitarian names, including the "Living in Dignity Association - White Hands - White Helmets - Cooperative Society".

 The first steps of the Turkish occupation on November 15, 2018, was the establishment of a settlement complex called "Al-Qaryat Al-Shamiya", after the mercenaries of "Al-Jabha Al-Shamiya", on the mountain slopes west of the town of Maryamin, south of the city of Afrin.

 In addition to the construction of apartments on the banks of the Afrin River in the city center on January 4, 2021, with the support and funding of "relief organizations".

 In the center of the occupied city of Afrin, the Turkish occupation authorities seized the records of the indigenous people in the Ashrafieh neighborhood, owned by Mahmoud Kalash, Hanan Nasser and Muhammad Ali, from the village of Qibar, in order to establish a camp for the families of mercenaries in it.

 Mobata district

 The Qatari “Al-Bayan” association established a settlement complex in the village of Afrazah in the Mabata district in the occupied countryside of Afrin, in the square where the Nowruz celebrations were held.

Jindirse district

 The Turkish occupation built settlements in (the village of Muhammadiyah and Deir Ballut, in addition to establishing settlement units on the archaeological hill of the district and near the village of Yalanquz, the village of Jelma, Diwan al-Tahtani, Kulka, Iska and Kafr Safra) and is supervised by the so-called “Afad” association of the Turkish occupation state.

 In the village of Haj Hasano, the Syrian Forum, headed by Ghassan Hito, the former head of the so-called “interim coalition government” affiliated with the mercenaries, announced that the so-called “Al-Ihsan Relief and Development” Foundation, headed by Baraa Al-Samoudi, had started on the 2nd of April of this year to implement a project  the construction of 247 settlement units on a mountainous site known as “Jiai Choti” near Mount Qazqli in the vicinity of Kafr Safra village in Janders district.

 According to private sources in occupied Afrin, the Turkish Red Crescent, in cooperation with the governor of Hatay, continues to establish dozens of settlement units in Janders district.

 The Turkish occupation has also deliberately settled the Turkmen families loyal to the Justice and Development Party along the border strip extending from the district of Shira to Balbula, and from the district of Jindirse to the district of Rajo, and the establishment of dozens of settlement complexes.

 Rajo district

 In Shiye and Rajo district, the Turkish occupation worked to establish 3 settlement compounds along the border strip in the villages of the district.

 The occupation worked to establish a settlement in the village of Maidan Ikbis, on the border strip with the Turkish occupation state, in addition to building a settlement in the plain of Shadia village.

 Shiye district

In the Shiye district, the Turkish occupation built a settlement in the village of Jaqla with the support and funding of the mercenaries of "Sultan Suleiman Shah" (Al-Amshat). It also established between the village of Jagla and Qarmtalq a settlement complex to settle 300 families of the families of his mercenaries who fought in Libya.

 Shira district

 In the Yazidi village of Pafilon in Shara district, the Turkish occupation established on November 12, 2020, a settlement complex comprising 70 settlement units under the name "Cooperation Camp", funded by Qatari and Kuwaiti Brotherhood associations, where hundreds of families from various Syrian regions were home, in addition to the village of Qibar. 

 Shirawa district

 In the Shirawa district, the association called "Living in Dignity for the People of Palestine" established 48 settlement complexes comprising 99 settlement units under the name "Basma", in the Yazidi village of Shadireh, to settle the Palestinian families brought by Turkey from the Palestinian camps in Syria, including the Yarmouk camp.

 In the village of Khalta, in the Shirawa district, Turkey recently worked to establish a settlement complex that includes 300 settlement units under the name "Kuwait al-Rahma", with the support and funding of Kuwaiti Brotherhood associations.

 Bulbul district

As for the Bulbul district, the occupation established 7 settlements in the district to settle the families it brought from Syrian regions. In the past year, it brought 30 families from the village of Umm Batna, in the Quneitra governorate, under Russian sponsorship, according to the Human Rights Organization Afrin - Syria.

 According to the Afrin-Syria Human Rights Organization, more than 7,500 Palestinian families have sought refuge in the occupied areas in northern Syria, and more than 500 families have taken refuge in occupied Afrin.

 Within the framework of the demographic change, the Turkish occupation is working to erase and obliterate the culture of the Yazidi villages in the occupied canton of Afrin, and to separate the city of Afrin from the rest of the other Syrian regions.

 Settlements under construction

 The so-called "White Hands" association is working to establish a new settlement in the forested forests located in the village of Qatma in Shira district, under the name of (Al-Safiya) village, with the support and funding of Palestinian and Gulf associations.

 In a related context, sources said that the so-called "Wafa Al-Muhsinin" association began establishing a new settlement in the village of Kafr Safra during the month of September.

 In September of this year, the Brotherhood’s “White Hands” Association, in cooperation with the Turkish occupation, completed the construction of a settlement village in the site of “Jabal Sheikh Muhammad” northwest of the village of Kafr Safra, affiliated to Jindirse district in the occupied canton of Afrin, to settle the “Palestinian” families who used to live  In the vicinity of the city of Damascus.

 Associations that fund the establishment of settlements in the occupied territories.

The associations working to establish settlements in the occupied areas in numbers are: "IHH, 18601 housing units - Türkıya Dıyanet Vakvı, 8016 housing units - AFAD, 7613 housing units - Sadakataşı, 5050 housing units - Turkish Red Crescent 2189 housing units - Fatih, 2086 units  Settlements - Hayrat Yardim, 2058 housing units - Deniz Feneri, 1,720 housing units - Yadi Başak, 700 housing units - Beşir Dernenği, 641 housing units - İDDEF, 610 housing units - Hündayi Vakfi, 587 housing units, 265 units - Kiyam AND  , 200 housing units.

 As for the Qatari Brotherhood, Kuwaiti and Palestinian organizations, they are: “The Palestinian Living in Dignity Association, Al Ihsan Association for Relief and Development, White Hands, White Helmets, Cooperative Society, Khair Al Sham, Al Bayan Association, Arabs of Palestine 48, numbering 9,352 settlement units.”

 Settlement of Turkmen in occupied Afrin

 Turkmen associations and organizations, under the auspices of the Turkish occupation state, have been active in Afrin as part of recent efforts to make the Turkmen spearhead in settlement operations in Afrin.

 The Turkmen Council of the Turkish occupation state revealed that its members visited the headquarters of the "Al-Zahir Baybars" mercenaries, who are from the Golan Turkmen, and the "Al-Furqan" mercenaries' headquarters, which includes Turkmen mercenaries from the central region.

 The mercenary, Muhammad Wajih Jumaa, head of the so-called "Syrian Turkmen Council", stressed in his speech to the crowds of settlers and Turkmen mercenary groups, what he called "the unity of the Turkmen class", and the need to work together to revive the spirit of unity and solidarity among the Syrian Turkmen.

 In September 2019, a delegation from the so-called "Syrian-Turkmen Renaissance Party" visited the mercenaries of "Sultan Muhammad al-Fateh" and villages in Afrin from which the original inhabitants were displaced and were prevented from returning to settle the Turkmens there.

 The Turkish occupation seeks to settle the largest number of Turkmens in occupied Afrin, especially on the border strip, in addition to providing aid to them;  With the aim of changing the demographics of the region in light of the talk about the settlement of about one million refugees in occupied Afrin.
