Joint events of women's movements calls for Turkey's withdrawal from occupied territories

Dozens of female members of the Future Syria Party, civil society organizations, the Zenobia Women’s Gathering Office, representatives of the Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria, the Syrian Women’s Council, and members of the joint events platform for women’s movements and organizations in NE Syria gathered in Martyr Hevrin Khalaf Park on the southern edge of the city Raqqa, to make a statement to public opinion, regarding the third anniversary of the occupation of Serêkaniyê and Girê Spî regions.

At the beginning of the statement read by the Deputy of the Women's Authority in the Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria, Roken Mulla Ibrahim, "Since the beginning of the Syrian crisis, the Turkish state has played the worst role in fueling the fire of war in Syria in an effort to impose its own agenda and for expansionist purposes to restore the Ottoman authority.".

Referring to the Turkish occupation attack on the areas of Serêkaniyê and Girê Spî on October 9, 2019, "the Turkish occupation state, with the support of its mercenary armed factions, carried out a military operation, called Peace Spring, on the areas of Serêkaniyê (Ras al-Ain), and Girê Spî ( Tal Abyad), using various types of advanced and internationally prohibited weapons against its defenseless civilian population.

The statement added, "This led to martyrdom and wounding of hundreds of civilians, the displacement of tens of thousands from their homes, cities and villages to empty the region and displace its original inhabitants, looting public and private properties to change the demographic structure of the region."

The statement also noted that the Turkish war machine targeted the religious, cultural and historical monuments of the region, and said, "to produce a new settlement project under the name of voluntary return to settle one million refugees from the families of the armed factions and to bring about a demographic change and a change in the demographic structure in the region."

It stressed that the crimes, violations and occupation of the Syrian territories by the Turkish state, under false pretexts, aim to destabilize the state of security, security and stability, and the state of coexistence and brotherhood among the peoples in the region.

During the statement, the joint events platform recalled "all the female martyrs and martyrs with all reverence and respect", and denounced the international silence in front of the crimes committed by the Turkish state in the region against its peoples and against women in particular.

The statement called on "the international community, with all its relevant bodies, to assume its full responsibility to stop the violations of the Turkish state and its continuous bombing of the regions of North and East Syria, and to impose No-fly zine on regions of NE Syria to end its occupation of Syrian territory.
