Politicians:Turkish-Syrian rapprochement is aimed at eliminating AANES's gains

 After the Tehran meeting on July 19, which brought together the presidents of Russia, Iran and the Turkish occupation state, and the Sochi meeting, which brought together Russian President Putin and his counterpart, President of the Turkish occupation state Erdogan, statements were issued from the Turkish side about a possible reconciliation with the Damascus government, in conjunction with Turkey's escalation of its attacks on the north  and eastern Syria, especially the border areas, targets from time to time the points of the Damascus government forces, amid the latter's silence.

 In this regard, our agency met the co-chair of the Relations Office in the Democratic Civil Administration in Tabqa, Ibrahim Al-Mohammed, who said, "The rapprochement between the Damascus government and Turkey is the result of their fear of the success achieved by the Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria and its preservation of security and stability."

 He stressed that "the first goal of this rapprochement became clear, which is to thwart the AANES project, which has proven its success and preservation of the social fabric in a short period at the internal and international levels by recognizing it as a strong partner organized by the coalition fighting ISIS, led by the United States of America.  It is getting rid of the "Salvation Government" and handing the opposition over to the Damascus government."

 Al-Mohammed believed that "the Turkish and Syrian regimes believe in the conspiracy theory that the region is exposed to, and both of them are affected by the horror of dialogue, recognition of the other, and peoples' fulfillment of their wills and management of their affairs on the basis of cooperation, solidarity and the values ​​of coexistence."

 He pointed out that "any rapprochement between the two parties will be at the expense of the Syrian people with all its components, and against their will to undermine tyranny and achieve dignity and freedom."

Al-Mohammed stressed, "Turkey still poses a threat to the security and stability of the region, and that Erdogan's continued statements about occupying the region are an expression of the political, military and economic predicament that his country is experiencing."

 Regarding Russia’s role in the Turkish occupation’s attacks on Damascus government forces’ points, Ibrahim al-Mohammed said, “I rule out the existence of a direct role for Russia in this matter. As for its silence about it, perhaps it will find in it something that enhances its pressure on the regime to move forward in rapprochement with Turkey, which is in fact benefits Russian policy in Syria in creating a Turkish-American dispute, adding to the files of differences between them.

 He stressed, "Russia considers itself a strategic ally of the Damascus government and its legitimate presence on the Syrian territory is requested by the Damascus government, but it acts according to its interests only."

 Al-Mohammed pointed out at the conclusion of his speech, "The areas of influence of the Autonomous Administration may change and may retreat here and there temporarily, but it is certainly heading towards continuity and success, because it represents the essence of the Syrians' will towards achieving the goals they aspire to and it succeeded in achieving an important political positioning on several levels, the most important of which are  the international community that can give it legitimacy and the ability to continue, mature and survive.”

 The Syrian people are the only losers

For his part, Ahmed Al-Khalaf, head of the Council of the Future Syria Party in Tabqa, said, "This (Turkish occupation state) policy comes to take advantage of the crisis and prolong the war, and to preserve its interests with the major countries in order to be an effective player on the regional arena."

 He explained, "The sudden change in the Turkish policy towards the Damascus government came after the meeting between Russia, Iran and Turkey, from which Turkey did not get a green light to launch a military operation in northern and eastern Syria."

 Al-Khalaf stressed that the project of the Autonomous Administration and the Syrian Democratic Forces are the most prominent reason for the Turkish occupation state to change its positions with the Damascus government, with the aim of fighting the Autonomous Administration under the pretext of protecting its "national security."

 Al-Khalaf pointed out that "Erdogan is working hard and with all parties and entities, and supports the "terrorist" groups, from ISIS and others, to achieve his aims to strike the stability of north and east Syria, and thwart the Autonomous Administration project, which stands in the way of his expansionist plans in the region."

 He stressed, "Turkey's goal in normalizing relations with the Damascus government is to satisfy the active Russian side in the region, and win international public opinion to justify its attacks and aggression on northern and eastern Syria."

 Regarding the statements of the Turkish occupation state about the goals of rapprochement with Damascus and coordination between the two parties to fight “terrorism,” Al-Khalaf said, “The Turkish occupation state is the backbone of terrorism in Syria, how not, and it opened the borders and roads for the entry of thousands of ISIS mercenaries.”

 He continued, "What we saw in the previous period of the operations of the international coalition against the leaders of ISIS mercenaries, in the areas occupied by Turkey and its mercenaries, is the biggest evidence of the extent of Turkey's support and export of terrorism."

 At the conclusion of his speech, Al-Khalaf noted the consequences that will occur as a result of the rapprochement between the Turkish occupation state and the Damascus government, and said, "If understandings occur between Ankara and Damascus in the coming period, all parties will work to achieve their goals and plans at the expense of the Syrian people, who will be the only loser in this deal."
