Juma'a appeals to RC over Turkish occupation's cutting off waters of Allouk station

Once again, the Turkish occupation state and its mercenaries cut off the water from the Allouk station.  In a move to thirst the people and use water as a pressure card to blackmail the people of north and east Syria and fight them with the basic needs of their livelihood.

 On August 22, the Al-Hasakah Canton Council issued a statement warning that international human rights organizations remain silent about the violations of the Turkish occupation state.

 In this context, the administrator of the human rights organization in Al-Jazira region spoke;  Avin Juma'a for our agency.

 Juma'a stated that the problem of cutting off drinking water from the Allouk station has been going on since the Turkish state's occupation of Serêkaniyê, i.e. since 2019, "more than a million people have been left without water, and this threatens the lives of the people in the area."

 She pointed out that the Turkish occupation state violated the laws, and said: "According to the international law related to the protection of civilians in war, this is a war crime against civilians. The Turkish state uses water as a weapon against the people. Also, cutting off water causes an increase in diseases, especially in displacement camps."

 She commented on the issue of the camps, saying: "As we know, most of the camps are located there, such as Al-Hol, Serêkaniyê and Washokani. In addition to the displaced, there are many villages that are at risk, as the people's purchase of water is dangerous for them, because it is not suitable for drinking."

 She also referred to the Euphrates Dam and the reduced hours of electricity and water, and said, "The percentage of electricity is limited, and a large part of the electricity was allocated to the Allouk station. However, despite this, the amount that was agreed upon was reduced to more than half" of the Euphrates water.

 The occupying Turkish state agreed with the Damascus government to pump water at a rate of 500 cubic meters per second, but it has pumped less than 200 cubic meters during the past 15 months.  This is what made the water cut-off rate historical.

 "The Euphrates River water problem has existed between Syria, Iraq and Turkey for years. The agreement is not adhered to and has been reduced. More than 7 million people depend on the Euphrates River, whether in agriculture, electricity or the water station, and all of them have been stopped."

 At the conclusion of her speech, Juma'a appealed to the International Red Cross, the United Nations and the guarantor countries to put pressure on the Turkish occupation state.
