Muslim: Our struggle forced Turkey to beg the Damascus government

The co-chair of Democratic Union Party, Saleh Muslim, revealed that the Sochi meeting that took place between Putin and Erdogan on August 5 was different, and he touched on a series of meetings recently held between the dominant powers during the program (RAVE) on Rojava TV, which was shown last night, Wednesday.

Turning to the intense Turkish attacks against NE Syria, especially after the Sochi and Tehran meetings, he noted: "Now Europe is at war with Russia in Ukraine, and this is related to Europe, but what concerns us is Turkey's presence in NATO and the extent to which it benefits from this presence. Turkey is fighting the Kurds since its establishment, and by joining NATO, it began to fight the Kurds with NATO weapons, we hoped that NATO would put an end to that, but during the Madrid meeting, unfortunately, that didn't happened.

Muslim touched on the Tehran meeting that was held between (Turkey - Russia - Iran), and said: "No Syrian or Kurdish party attended the meeting; the meeting was a meeting of interests between those countries, and the meeting did not come out with anything in common, in addition to the fact that Turkey could not pass its plan in it."

Salih Muslim noted that the Turkish plan was to allow it to launch a new ground offensive against NE Syria, and said: "The Turkish plan is to occupy Manbij and Tal Rifaat, and to liquidate the Kurds in those areas, especially the IDPs in Shahba areas who are showing great resistance to return to their occupied area of Afrin, and then fully implement his plan against Afrin."

Muslim touched on the reasons why Russia and Iran did not agree to Turkey launching an attack against Manbij and Shahba areas, and said: "Not allowing Turkey to launch an attack is not from a moral standpoint or so, or for the interests of the Kurds, in fact because the Turkish attack affects Iran's interests in these areas are the result of the presence of several Shiite villages, and they affect the interests of the Syrian regime linked to Russia, as Aleppo will be besieged."

Saleh Muslim explained that Tehran meeting allowed Turkey to kill the Kurds through drones, cannons and missiles, and said: "Turkey is well aware that the people of the region organized themselves, and is also aware that any ground attack against the region without opening the air in front of it will lead to its defeat, so it does not dare to launch an attack without obtaining approval to open the airspace to its warplanes.

Salih Muslim noted that the Sochi meeting that took place between Putin and Erdogan on August 5 was different, and said: "The meeting was with Putin alone, and lasted for 4 hours, during the meeting Erdogan surrendered to Putin, and now Erdogan will not be able to play on the two ropes (Russian - NATO)."

Muslim believes that what Erdogan did during the Sochi meeting is with the knowledge of NATO and America. He said: "NATO and America allowed Erdogan to take this step to a certain extent, and Turkey seeks to expand this limit. If Turkey exceeds this limit, NATO will tell Turkey to stop." He described what happened during the Sochi meeting as "very big".

Muslim highlighted what is being talked about amending the Adana Agreement, and said: "The concession made by the Syrian regime to Turkey took place between 2000 and 2010, that is during the arrival of the Justice and Development Party to power, and at that time the regime was suffers from weakness and great pressure, and no one supported him."

Muslim explained that what is required of the Damascus government now is to reject the Adana Agreement, and said: "We demand that Damascus respect the people. Its policies towards the Syrian people are wrong, the Syrian people represented by the Syrian Democratic Forces have fought ISIS and are now repelling the Turkish occupation attacks."
