Professor of PS at University of Vienna: If Turkey attacks, it to cost it dearly

 During an intervention by a professor of political science at the University of Vienna and an expert on Middle Eastern affairs and the Kurdish issue, Thomas Schmindinger, within the second axis, which was titled (Democratic Autonomous Administration, as an Experience and a Model), he touched upon the importance of the July 19 revolution, and said: "In this historical moment and  ten blessed years, with thanks to the Arab forces that supported the Kurdish forces in getting here, I will talk about the new picture from the political point of view, but it is worth talking more and closely about what is happening in the region, and analyze events according to a local and global scale, what happened in the ten years of the revolution,  I think that we did not have any kind of militarization in the revolution here, the Syrian army was here, and without fighting and destroying the city, the areas were liberated, and this is a diplomatic progress and success for Kurdish politics. You were able to liberate the Kurdish areas from Kobani and Afrin without destroying the infrastructure and you established the Autonomous Administration."

 Schmindinger touched on the Turkish attacks against the region, and said: "I must mention that the forces did not attack the populated areas, they were only facing the Turkish aggression and defending the population."  "After the Turkish occupation of the Autonomous Administration areas, we need defensive forces to protect the population from any attack."

 He touched on the importance of self-administration.  After the liberation of Raqqa, the area in which the majority of its inhabitants are Arabs, the Autonomous Administration was able to annex it in an ideal way, especially since this region was inhabited by a very conservative population of the Arab component.  I wonder how it can deal with those areas that were liberated from ISIS!!?

 He stressed that the ability of the Autonomous Administration to include multiple parties from the Syrian society is part of the policy followed.  There are similar projects all over Syria."

 He indicated that the European press is talking about north and east Syria, and said: "All thanks to the time the Syrian revolution provided, which resulted in the revolution of north and east Syria."

 On the other hand, he referred to the Turkish threats, indicating that the Syrian Democratic Forces are trained forces, and if Turkey launched an attack, it would cost it a heavy price.  Stressing the need to intensify diplomatic efforts in order to stop the Turkish attacks, "you must get diplomatic forces or make more diplomatic efforts to stop Turkey."

It is possible that there will be a major ISIS attack on the region

 Schmindinger explained that Turkey invaded Afrin after obtaining Russian support in 2019, and invaded Serêkaniyê / Ras al-Ain and Girê Spî / Tal Abyad after receiving the green light from the United States, and history can repeat that, and said: "It will be a disaster for all the surrounding areas,  Because we know very well that there are hundreds of ISIS cells in the area, and its members are in prisons, and groups supported by Turkey have sought to expel them. It is possible that there will be a major ISIS attack on the region."

 “One of the reasons why people like me in this forum is to tell everyone that this region must not be forgotten, and that change should take place in all political and democratic levels,” said Thomas Schmindinger at the end of his intervention. “We need the full support of all the dominant parties, and I am sure that one day  European public opinion will not realize the importance of this region."
