YRA condemns arrest of journalists by Turkish authorities, demands to set them free

In a statement, the Free Media Union (YRA) in NE Syria condemned the arrest of a group of male and female journalists by the Turkish occupation authorities in Bakur, and demanded that they must be released as soon as possible.

"The Turkish police reportedly raided the homes of a number of journalists arrested the journalists: "Dekel Firat", the co-chair of the Journalists' Association, Sardar Altan, the co-chair of Jin News, and Safiya Alajash,

JINNEWS Editor Gulçin Küçük, Mesopotamia Agency (MA) Editor Aziz Oruç, Journalist Umar Celik, Souad Dogohan, Ramazan Kaglinen, Berivan Kara Turak, Neshat Toprak, Ibrahim Koyongo, Asmar Tong, Zine El Abidine Bulut Mazloum Dogan Koller, Elif Ungor, Ramzia Temal Yalcin and Muhammad Shahin, and their phones and some work equipment were confiscated", YRA through statement.

We in YRA denounce the actions of the Turkish state which violate the international law on human protection and protection of journalists, we fully support the detained journalists.

Worth to note that the Turkish police had earlier arrested a number of journalists in the Kurdish city of Amed, as part of the political genocide.
