As part of the political genocide pursued by the Turkish authorities, the police forces raided the homes of a number of journalists in the city of Amed, and arrested the co-chair of the Tigris and Euphrates Journalists Association Sardar Altan, the editor of the newspaper Mzopotamia Aziz Oruç, and journalists Omer Celik, Suad Doğuhan, Ramadan Kecken, Berivan Kara Turak, Asmar Tong and Muhammed Shaheen, Director of (JINNEWS) Safia Alkash and Editor of (JINNEWS) Colsion.
