​​​​​​​ Co-chair of Zarkan District Council: Turkish attacks aim to empty region

 The Turkish occupation state and its mercenaries have increased the frequency of their attacks on the areas of Zarkan and Tal Tamr, located north and west of Hasaka canton, on the contact lines with the Turkish occupation army and its mercenaries.

 Where the two sides witness violent shelling with mortars and heavy artillery on a daily basis, causing great material damage to citizens' properties, infrastructure and public utilities."

 Zarkan district alone has been targeted in the past two days by more than 320 mortar and artillery shells by the Turkish occupation state and its mercenaries, according to a statement by the media center of the Syrian Democratic Forces.

 The co-chair of the Zarkan District Council, Saleh Smou, said, "The Turkish occupation state and its mercenaries have recently escalated their attacks on the center of Zarkan district and its villages in a violent and indiscriminate manner," stressing that the goal of the attacks is to change its demography.

 He referred to the difficulties that citizens face in working within their agricultural lands as a result of the continuous bombing of the area, saying, "Today, people are finding it difficult to reach their lands, and there is great fear of catching fire in the agricultural season."

 He attributed the Turkish occupation’s attacks on the region and the recent threats to “the political bankruptcy that Turkey is experiencing, and its attempt to export its internal crises, as well as the economic deterioration, the country’s turnout for the presidential elections, and the defeats the Turkish occupation state has received at the hands of the Peoples  Defense Forces in the legitimate defense areas of Başûr Kurdistan."

 He stressed the steadfastness of the people and their adherence to their land and homes, "the best response to the attacks of the Turkish occupation and its mercenaries by the people of Zarkan district is to remain in their homes, praising the people's resistance.

 The co-chair of the Zarkan District Council, Saleh Smou, called on the people of Zarkan district to continue to support the forces in the military councils and stand by them to repel the attacks of the Turkish occupation army and its mercenaries, and not to be drawn into rumors and the private war promoted by the Turkish media and the enemies of the region.
