Birtan Mohammed: this year is fateful; we must consolidate our unity to defeat occupier

The statement of member of the Qamishlo Military Council, Birtan Mohammad, came during the tribal forum held in the city of Qamishlo, under the slogan, "Sheikhs and dignitaries of the tribes pledge to stand united against the aggressive practices and demographic change against the peoples of the region," in order to discuss the attacks on the north and east Syria and the policy of demographic change in the occupied territories.

During the forum organized by the Syrian Democratic Forces, Birtan Mohammad welcomed all attendees, referring to the policies of the Turkish state against the peoples of the Middle East and Syria in particular, and said: "The situation in the world, and Syria in particular, is unstable so far, as a result of foreign interventions, especially the Turkish state, which is an extension of the Ottoman Empire. From the beginning of the Syrian crisis to the present day, the Turkish state has been practicing brutal policies against the peoples of the region.

'Turkish attempts to restore Ottoman domination'

Birtan indicated that the Turkish state is fighting the peoples of north and east Syria and launching successive attacks on the region under the pretext of the "Safe Zone."

Birtan Mohammad referred to the crises that the Turkish state suffers from at the internal level: "Turkish colonialism is facing painful blows, and is facing political, economic and diplomatic crises, but it still continues its malicious policies against our regions."

She added, "The Turkish state interferes in all the world's issues, from Libya, Ukraine, Tunisia, Algeria, all the way to Syria to restore its hegemony."

Qamishlo Military Council’s member stressed the need to adopt the principles of the revolutionary war of the people against the attacks and practices that the region is exposed to, stressing the need to strengthen societal organization against the attacks launched on north and east Syria, and said: "We faced many difficulties, and we withstood the Turkish aggression until we reached to the point where we are now."

“We must strengthen our unity in search of a free life'

Birtan Mohammad noted the policies produced by the Turkish occupation in north and east Syria and the construction of settlements in the occupied areas, saying: "It seeks to empty these areas of their people, and therefore we must draw great lessons from our struggle, and strengthen our unity in search of a free life."

Birtan stressed: "This year is a fateful year for us, and we must be stronger than ever," adding: "If we do not unite, we will not be able to defeat the attacks of the Turkish state on our lands."

Birtan Mohammad explained that this year will determine the fate and future of the peoples of the region, and that "the whole world is facing economic and political crises, and north and east Syria is also not far from these crises, but we confirm that solutions to crises in our regions, many prominent personalities who visit our regions confirm the distinction that our regions witness it through solidarity, popular unity, security and stability."

Building a free, democratic Syria for all its peoples

On what is required of the peoples of the region at the present time to achieve victory against the attacks and policies practiced against the region, Birtan said: "We must continue the struggle and resistance so that we can achieve victory during this year, and make 2022 the year of defeating Turkish fascism, liberating all our occupied areas, and building a free, democratic Syria for all its peoples.

At the end of her speech, a member of the Military Council in Qamishlo, Birtan Mohammad, praised the role of the peoples of the region in uniting with their military forces to confront these attacks, noting: "The enemy seeks to divide us and break our resolve. Therefore, all the peoples of the region must join forces with the Syrian Democratic Forces to thwart these attempts."
