Protesters: Fourth Division's barriers must be removed

The people and dignitaries of the Sheikh Maqsoud and Ashrafieh neighborhoods condemned continuation of the siege policies, and denied widespread allegations about allowing food to enter the two neighborhoods.

Member of the Interfaith Forum, Abdul Rahman Ghaz read the statement in the presence of dozens of people and representatives of civil institutions..

The statement said that the Fourth Division only allows of small quantities of materials, where imposes royalties and taxes on these goods and forces the people to stand for long hours at the checkpoints under the pretext of checking their identities, which affected the lives of more than two hundred thousand civilians

“In the recent period, the Fourth Division claims to bring the materials into the neighborhood, as we assure everyone that they are lies, allegations and a private war, these inhumane acts and practices by the Fourth Division do not serve the unity of the Syrian people and coexistence", the statement added.

The statement concluded by saying, “ We demand lifting of the siege and also demand the International Community represented by the United Nations to take urgent measures to avoid a humanitarian catastrophe against the people in the neighborhoods.”
