Intellectuals Union in Jazira decries targeting Kurdish poet Farhad Mardi

Intellectuals Union in Jazira region has considered the targeting of Turkish occupation UAV of poet Farhad Mardi and comrades, an expression of the fear and crisis of the Turkish fascist state that causes it to regard every citizen of Rojava as a threat and foe of its repressive regime.

Intellectuals Union in the Jazira region issued a statement about the targeting of Turkish occupation UAV car on the road of the Tirbespiyê district on April 1, which resulted in the martyrdom of a citizen and the injury of two others, one of whom was the Kurdish poet Farhad Mardi.

The statement reads:

Turkish fascist continues its atrocities practices against NE, Syria by supporting terrorism and shelling safe areas and targeting revolutionaries and citizens of our people by its UAV, amid at ignoring of the global forces and guarantor states the signed agreements, what had happened of the egregious violations, would never have occurred without the complicity of these countries with the Turkish occupation, and the horror of the Turkish state from the AANES’ project that proved its resistance in confronting to the repressive regime of the Turkish state. So, the targeting of the Kurdish poet Farhad and his comrades is just the fear that Turkish state suffered.

At a time when we condemn and decry the international forces involved in the Syrian crisis and hold them responsible for the barbarism of Turkish fascism towards our people, revolutionaries and intellectuals. We, in the Intellectuals Union in Jazira call upon free pens and national intellectuals to carry out their national and moral duty towards their people and their gains and expose Turkish fascism to free national thought and to support the democratic experience in North eastern Syria. We also appeal to intellectuals, writers and free pens in the world to expose the policies of Turkish fascism and to show the truth about its brutality towards free thought and the rights of peoples to freedom.

The targeting of free pens is the targeting of human values. The international community and the active forces must fulfil their moral responsibilities towards the peoples of North eastern Syria, who have defended on behalf of the world against global terrorism supported by Turkish fascism. "
