On January20, ISIS cells attacked Al-Sina'a prison, and a number of mercenaries fled and some of them hid in neighborhoods of Al-Zhour and Ghweran, next to the prison. The mercenary attack caused the displacement of a large number of families to other neighborhoods in Hasaka city.

During the period of displacement, Autonomous Administration provided shelters for the displaced and provided them with basic supplies. After sweeps operations in the two neighborhoods (Ghweran and Al-Zhour), which are still ongoing, the displaced people began to return to their homes.

People return happening amid with strict security measures taken at the main entrances and exits of the two neighborhoods.

The security measures include checking all returnees and their documents, to avoid the infiltration of cells and wanted people into the two neighborhoods.
