SYG – Hevbendî denounces Turkish occupation attempts to deceive Yazidis

 This came through a statement issued by the Yazidi Gathering, in response to the calls of some parties affiliated with the Turkish occupation of the Yazidis to return to the occupied Afrin and Serêkaniyê in order to polish the image of the Turkish occupation, and the text of the statement stated:

 "The Turkish occupation state, in coordination with malicious parties, seeks to deceive the Yazidis in Syria (Serêkaniyê and Afrin), by tickling their feelings and exploiting their unbridled desire to return to their villages and their hometown on their own, in a desperate attempt to polish its image before the international community to show itself as protector of minorities in the region to relieve  the sharpness of international criticism and human rights organizations against it.

 Our Yazidi people in Syria are more than aware of who Turkey is and the extent of its ambitions to purify its entire areas of influence from any presence of non-Muslim minorities, and that it stood and stands firmly behind the genocide against the Yazidis, Syriacs, Armenians, Assyrians and other Kurdistan minorities for hundreds of years to this day.

 Our people also know the extent of the oppression and persecution practiced against the few Yazidis remaining in Afrin, where neither a family nor a single Yezidi was spared the harm and abuse of the extremist factions brought in by Turkey to occupy Afrin, so they confiscated property and homes, violated honor and killed or kidnapped innocent people with the aim of obtaining a large financial ransom  It built mosques in Yazidi villages, destroyed their religious shrines, and exhumed the graves of their dead. These criminal acts are still continuing against our Yazidi people until the moment of preparing this statement.

 The situation in Serêkaniyê after the occupation was not different from Afrin, but fortunately for the Yezidis that they were able to flee the city in time, so the terrorist factions loyal to Turkey confiscated all the property that the Yezidis left behind and exhumed and destroyed the graves of the dead under the pretext that they are the graves of the infidels, the land of Muslims defiled.  !

 We in the Syrian Yazidi Gathering - Hafbandi, and after reviewing the details of the efforts aimed at deceiving the Yazidis, we declare our categorical rejection of all attempts of normalization with the Turkish occupation and the terrorist factions loyal to it.  Return to everyone as soon as possible, and we will not allow any party to put the lives of our people at risk and take risks based on false Turkish promises.

 We are also taking advantage of the occasion by calling for the establishment of a committee from the components of Serekaniye, similar to the committee that was formed in Afrin (the Afrin Initiative) to prepare for and achieve the return based on international guarantees and UN monitoring that guarantees the safety of all returnees and compensates them for the harm and damage they have suffered.
