Lahdo warns of ISIS resurgence in parallel with Turkish escalation

 Turkish threats on northeast Syria continue, using several means to threaten security and stability by moving sleeper cells, bombing areas on the strip separating the Syrian Democratic Forces and their mercenaries, and targeting by  drones civilians lately.

 During a meeting with the Vice-President of the Executive Council, Joseph Lahdo, he said, "The attack on the areas northeast Syria represents a clear threat to the region, especially its attack on the areas of Abu Rasin and Zarkan."

 Lahdo added, "The frequency of attacks has recently escalated on our areas, and the Turkish warplanes are using new methods in their attacks. We have seen drones targeting residential homes, which is not new to Turkey, but many victims came from the areas of Tal Tamr and its villages."

 He warned, "These attacks increase the activity of the sleeper cells of ISIS, the regime and Turkey, and when those cells linked to Turkey were unable, they attacked the area to open the way for their cells to move."

He pointed out that the Turkish military attacks were accompanied by "many rumors, including the advance of the armed factions loyal to Turkey," explaining, "This is a kind of psychological warfare used by the Turkish occupier to spread panic among the safe residents, and give hope to Turkey's mercenaries and its cells."

 He praised the SDF's resistance against the attacks on the region, "it has not made any progress, thanks to the SDF, which repelled all attacks, and the SDF is doing its duty to guard the area and repel terrorist factions."

 He called on the European and Western active countries to work to stop the attacks on the region, "those attacks that threaten the lives and security of citizens, and the active countries must assume their moral responsibility towards the region."

 The Vice-President of the Joint Executive Council noted the need to assist the active countries of the SDF in combating terrorism, by putting pressure on the Turkish occupier "to stop its attacks that increase the activity of ISIS sleeper cells, and thus the SDF is preoccupied with fighting these cells."

 He continued in the same context, "The Syrian Democratic Forces can defend themselves and the region, and were able to liberate the region and the world from ISIS terrorism, but the international community remains silent about the practices of the Turkish occupation."

 He called on the international community to "adhere to their moral responsibility towards the SDF, which prevented the threat on the world from terrorism, despite a previous statement by US President Barack Obama, who said that they need 15 years to eliminate ISIS, while the Syrian Democratic Forces were able to confront the organization, defeat it and expel it from the region."
