SDF General Command threatens against Turkish attack: It not to go unanswered

The General Command of the Syrian Democratic Forces, in a written statement issued today, considered the recent Turkish escalation a new stage of attacks.

The command stressed in its statement that these attacks will not pass without a response.

The statement published by the media website of the Syrian Democratic Forces stated the following:

"To the public opinion

On August 19^th at exactly 02:00 in the afternoon, a drone of the Turkish occupation targeted the car of the People's Protection Units' (YPG) Commander Renas Roj, which led to his martyrdom. On the same day at exactly 06:00 p.m, the Turkish occupation carried out an air attack targeting the headquarters of the Tel Tamr Military Council, during the brutal Turkish attack, Member of the Military Council of the Women’s Protection Units (YPJ) and the Military Council of the Syrian Democratic Forces, Sawsan Birhat, as well as Comrades Agid Girke Lege, Robar Hasakah, and Saifullah Ahmed martyred, in addition to the wounding of three of our fighters.

During the past few days, an attack carried out with a Turkish drone on cars belonging to civilians in Kobane. In addition, a week ago, the occupation launched a series of attacks with all heavy weapons on many areas, starting from al-Shahba areas to Zargan, which caused the death of a civilian woman and the wounding of 16 others in Zargan town.

. These brutal attacks over the past week are a clear sign of escalation. We in the Syrian Democratic Forces confirm that from today onwards we will not remain silent in the face of the occupation's attacks. This brutal Turkish attack that led to the martyrdom of these precious commanders and fighters will not go unanswered.

On the other hand, the silence and ambiguous position of the guarantor states of the cease-fire such as the United States and Russia encourage the Turkish state to intensify its attacks on our civilians and on our lands. Hence, we remind them of their responsibilities and call for them to clarify their position.

Comrade Renas Roj was a member of the People's Protection Units (YPG) and one of the commanders of the Syrian Democratic Forces, and he hails from East Kurdistan. He spent his whole life fighting for the freedom of Kurdistan. He has engaged in the struggle for freedom vigorously throughout Kurdistan, and recently when ISIS attacks on Kobane happened, he also came to Rojava as hundreds of Kurdish and international youths and actively participated in the fight against ISIS and in the liberation operations in Manbij, Raqqa and Deir Ezzor, where he was always in the front lines. He also had an active role in the Resistance of the Age and Dignity in Afrin, Sere Kaniye and Tel Abyad, where he was known for his courage.

In her turn, Comrade Sawsan Birhat was a member of the YPJ and SDF Council and spent many years fighting for the freedom of Kurdistan. She also fought for freedom in the various parts of Kurdistan, especially at the beginning of the Rojava Revolution, as her level of struggle increased even more, and she fought wholeheartedly in areas such as Afrin and Aleppo, and took the lead in the resistance and leadership there, where she played a major role in the success of the historic resistance of Sheikh Maqsoud neighborhood as a leader and pioneer of the resistance.

Agid Girke Lege was also an experienced fighter and commander who played a leading role in all operations in the fight against ISIS. Also, Comrades Robar Hasakah and Saifullah Ahmed showed a heroic resistance with a high patriotic spirit, whether in the fight against ISIS terrorism or the attacks of the Turkish state and its mercenary gangs, and they were always on the front lines of the resistance.

We in the Syrian Democratic Forces affirm our adherence to the memory of these precious martyrs, as the accountability of the occupier and revenge against it will be difficult. We will force the enemy to repent of its occupation and its hostility to our people. This is our promise to our dear martyred commanders and all our martyrs.

On this basis, we extend our condolences to all our people in north and east Syria and to the martyrs' families.
