A British website said that the French city of Lyon will honor the martyred Kurdish politician and activist Hevrin Khalaf by naming one of its squares after her.

The British Middle East Eye website said that the square located in the "Guillotiere" neighborhood in the French city of Lyon, will be named "Hevrin Khalaf Square", as the Lyon City Council voted unanimously on the name today according to French media.

The square will open later this year, on September 21.

The mayor of the 7th district of Lyon, Fanny Dubot, tweeted that naming the square would be in honor of the martyr Hevrin Khalaf.

The Secretary-General of the Future Syria Party, Hevrin Khalaf, was martyred on October 12, 2019, in an ambush set by mercenaries affiliated to the Turkish occupation on cars passing by on the international road.
