Iraqi army arrests Yazidi youth, wounds a journalist

Today, the Iraqi army arrested a Yazidi young man in Khansour town of Shengal, and shot at a gathering of people who went out to protest the arrest of the young man and demand his release, which led to the injury of journalist Salah Barjas, who was covering the events.

Today, in the town of Khansour, in Shengal, at approximately 16:00, a massive march took place in support of the resistance of the Guerilla fighters in the face of the Turkish occupation. Therefore, an Iraqi army unit headed to the area. After the march ended, around 18:00, the situation between the youth and the Iraqi army escalated, and the soldiers arrested one of the young men.

As a result, crowds returned to protest against the arrest of the young man and demanded his release, and the Iraqi army soldiers opened fire.

As a result of the shooting, journalist Salah Barjas, who was covering the events, was injured. He was transferred to Khansour Hospital and he is in a stable condition.
