“We will not accept murder; perpetrators of massacre against women politicians must be prosecuted”

The Women's Council of the Future Syria Party denounced the genocide against women, and stressed that the Turkish occupation targets "women leaders, politicians and activists to undermine women's free will and resistance and the women's revolution that came as the culmination of their struggle to achieve freedom."

Dozens of female members of the Women's Council of the Future Syria Party gathered to make a statement condemning the crimes of the Turkish occupation, particularly the assassination of HDP member Deniz Poyraz.

The statement was delivered by the spokeswoman of the Women's Council of the Future Syria Party, Ghalia Al-Kajwan.

The statement included: "Since the beginning of the Syrian crisis, the regions of North and East Syria have been subjected to the crimes of the Turkish occupation, by following a systematic policy of targeting women in the areas they occupied, including killing, rape and displacement to undermine their strength and determination after the achievements they achieved at all levels. The leading women politicians and the assassination of the Secretary-General of the Future Syria Party, Hevrin Khalaf, on the twelfth of October 2019, who fought for the brotherhood of peoples and the unity of Syria.

On the 17th of June, the Democratic Peoples’ Party (HDP) member Deniz was assassinated, and today we stand in denunciation against the crimes of the Turkish occupation. On this day, on June 23, 2020, a house in the village of Hilinj, southeast of Kobani, was targeted by a drone, which led to the death Zahra, Heboun and mother Amina.

“Targeting women leaders, politicians and activists is to undermine the free will of women and resistance and the women's revolution, which came as the culmination of their struggle to achieve equality, freedom and brotherhood of peoples."

The statement continued, The Turkish occupation, through its mercenaries and factions, in the areas it occupied and in North and East Syria targets conscious and organized women with brutal, immoral methods.

The statement concluded with, "Today, we oppose these crimes against women politicians, and let all international, human rights and feminist organizations listen, and let us stand united and unite our struggle and organize ourselves against the attacks of the Turkish occupation and the patriarchal mentality, and try the perpetrators before the courts; we will not accept killing us and denying our existence and we say enough is enough to exterminate women, and we pledge to follow the path of our martyrs towards freedom.”
