Lawyer: PKK's defense against Turkish plan shows awareness and understanding

Since the 23rd of last April, the Turkish occupation army has launched occupational attacks against Southern Kurdistan, as well as looting, destroying and burning the nature of Kurdistan.

In an exclusive statement to Hawar News Agency, Omaima Al-Sharif , lawyer, activist, human rights trainer and chairperson of the Board of Trustees of the Promising Voices Foundation for Human Rights said: "The Turkish hostile stance against our people in Iraq or Syria, which was also evident in fueling the spirit of hostility to those who oppose the Muslim Brotherhood faction in Egypt, and what Turkey has done in sisterly Libya is not directed at a specific race as much as it is directed at the entire region, and Turkey wants to restore the Ottoman occupation of our region, and considers our region a worthy legacy.

Omaima Al-Sharif explained that Turkey is hostile to the Kurds and practices ethnic racism against the Kurds in the four parts of Kurdistan, and has committed many violations and crimes against them and has been condemned globally, sabotaging the wealth of Iraq and fueling the war in Syria, Libya, or Egypt, and the attempt to empower the Muslim Brotherhood faction, all stem from Turkey’s desire to control the region with all its ethnicities and bounties, and declare it part of its empire, which it seeks to establish now.”

Omaima Al-Sharif indicated that confronting the Turkish project will not be achieved through the individual action of any of the components of the region, and said, "With full respect and appreciation for the struggles of the Kurdistan Workers' Party, but confronting the Turkish project must be through a unitary democratic project in which citizens of all races indiscriminately enjoy full rights based on race, gender, or any other grounds of discrimination.

Turkey seeks to restore its dream of the Ottoman Caliphate

Omaima Al-Sharif indicated that Turkey seeks to achieve its own interests and complete control over the region and to restore its eternal dream of the Ottoman caliphate.

Omaima continued, "As for the Kurdistan Democratic Party, from its cooperation it presents itself as an ally in the hope of supporting and backing Turkey to obtain gains towards autonomy or the like."

The PKK's defense against the Turkish scheme is conscious

Regarding the resistance shown by PKK fighters, Omaima said: "The PKK's defense against the Turkish scheme indicates awareness and understanding of the seriousness of what the Turkish authorities want from the region, but the problem is deeper than being directed at a particular ethnic group or sect."

Omaima Al-Sharif considered that the Turkish attacks on the Kurdistan Region, the statements of Turkish officials regarding the withdrawal from Libya, and the outbreak of the economic, social and political crisis inside Turkey are fully related to the role it played in supporting some groups in order to sabotage Syria.

At the conclusion of the statement, Omaima Al-Sharif called for action against Turkish ambitions and said: "In my opinion, first of all, women should be at the forefront of the struggle. In this case, it is very necessary and urgent for everyone to unite in one rank to work against Turkey's ambitions in the region, and everyone should start raising awareness, in the foreground, of course, is the feminist movement.”
