YPG: ISIS cell trained by Turkish intelligence eliminated

The People's Protection Units (YPG) announced that, in a qualitative operation carried out in Al-Shaddadi area, it managed to eliminate an ISIS cell that had received training at the hands of Turkish intelligence, and confirmed the killing of 5 members of the cell.

The Media Center of the People's Protection Units issued a statement in this regard, in which it indicated that this cell was tasked with creating tension and striking the state of security and stability in the region, and at a time when the cell was preparing to carry out the attacks, it was thwarted and eliminated.

The text of the statement stated:

As part of our forces’ struggle against ISIS sleeper cells, our forces were able to identify a cell that was supported and trained by Turkish intelligence, and the members of this cell went to Turkey in 2017 and received training in the cities of Ankara and Roha by Turkish intelligence, and after the Turkish occupation of Serêkaniyê and Girê Spî, they were sent to Rojava, and they have been collecting information for a long time about the institutions of the Autonomous Administration."

The statement added: "This cell was prepared to create tension and strike the state of security and stability in the areas of the Autonomous Administration."

"On June 5, after collecting all the intelligence information about this cell, our forces launched a specific operation against this cell located in Al-Shaddadi area, and the cell was targeted during its preparations to launch attacks in the area, and as a result of the operation, 5 members of the cell were killed."

According to the statement, the names of the cell members who were killed are as follows:

Raad Muhammad Khaled from Iraq

Rami Hamdoun Khader from the Syrian city of Aleppo

Ahmed Mahmoud Fateh from Iraq

Abu Khattab from Iraq

Hamoud Hamid Muhammad from Syria.
