The Human Rights Defense Initiative, sponsored by the German human rights organization Medico International and Fight for Humanity, organized the founding meeting of the Forum for Victims of ISIS in North and East Syria in Afrin Hall in Qamishlo.

This meeting comes after two meetings held in Jazirah and Raqqa region, in the presence of many mercenary victims, tribal clans and representatives of civil society organizations, which resulted in a draft for discussion.

The platform aims to represent the voice of the victims of ISIS mercenaries and to hold mercenaries accountable for the heinous crimes committed against many victims and missing persons, as well as to enable the victims (survivors of ISIS mercenaries) to play a leading role in the formulation of meaningful transitional justice on their rights to effective and genuine remedies and fair reparation

The platform is an alliance of civil society actors and associations of victims (survivors supporting victims) of the conflict in NE, Syria who continue to suffer from the brutal crimes committed by the mercenaries of ISIS and other parties to the Syrian conflict due to the lack of any practical solutions.

The meeting was attended by victims of ISIS mercenaries and their families, representatives of civil society organizations in north and east Syria, and representatives of the organization Fight for Humanity, through the online system.

During the meeting, the director of Fight for Humanity, Mohamed El-Ji, explained that most people in NE, Syria have victims of ISIS mercenaries: "The degree of vulnerability may be mixed, and some members of society are direct victims of ISIS mercenaries. We know very well that there are vigorous efforts at the international level to find a solution to the crimes committed by ISIS."

El-Ji said, "We identify the victims from this platform, and we are talking in particular about the victims of the terrorist ISIS, and there are efforts to organize a judicial process to try ISIS."

He continued, "There are intense negotiations and talks at the state level on creating a judicial mechanism to hold accountable the perpetrators of crimes by ISIS."

"We are the Fight for Humanity and with the support of Medico International, our goal is to communicate the voice of the victims, to meet through this platform to discuss their requirements, suggestions and how to fulfil their rights," he stressed, in conclusion, their continued support "for the establishment of the platform and the follow-up to the discussions and decisions that result from it."

After that, the outputs of the two meetings of Jazirah and Raqqa region, which were held in the city of Raqqa and Hasakah, were presented in preparation for the founding meeting of the platform for victims of ISIS in north and east Syria, and discussion on it by the attendees.
