SDF dismantles ISIS cells in western countryside of Deir-ez-Zor

In a statement published on Monday, the Syrian Democratic Forces Media Centre said on its official website that "with the participation of the Internal Security Forces ISF, on Sunday, 23^rd May, our forces launched a massive security operation targeting ISIS terrorist cells in Jazzrah Bo Hamid area in the western countryside of Deir-ez-Zor and the indiscriminate camps around it."

The operation was "launched on the basis of the appeals of the people following the increase in operations by ISIS and other parties targeting Sheikhs and clans' notables in the area, as well as the staff of service institutions and scientific staff.

According to the Centre, the operation "involved more than 53 points, including tents for displaced persons, used by ISIS terrorists to hide, manufacture explosive devices and recruit terrorists."

"During the operation, our forces were able to arrest 24 terrorists, including three terrorists, who carried out the assassination last Wednesday of the member of the Legislative Council of Deir ez-Zor, Moayyed Al-Rayash, as well as a number of others who were involved in other terrorist operations during the Eid al-Fitr holiday," he added.

Stressing the failure of their forces to "a number of plans for terrorist operations," the Centre went on to state: "The forces also seized a large number of grenades, Kalashnikov weapons, sharp metal weapons, space communications devices, diagrams and papers for certain terrorist operations, as well as various military uniforms and narcotic substances."

It concluded by saying: "Our forces emphasize their constant struggle against ISIS cells and other parties that want to tamper with the security and stability of the region and prevent them from impeding the construction and development of the institutions of the Autonomous Administration in Northern and Eastern Syria.
