Since the 23rd of last April, the Turkish occupation army has launched an attack on the legitimate defense zones with the aim of expanding its occupation in Southern Kurdistan.

The Deputy Secretary General of the Kurdish Democratic Unity Party in Syria, Mustafa Mashayekh, spoke to our agency about the objectives of the Turkish occupation attacks.

Mashayekh indicated that the Turkish state makes efforts against any Kurdish struggle, even at the diplomatic level, preventing the Kurdish people from making any gains.

'The Turkish state continues to practice violations'

Mashayekh also noted that the Turkish occupation state antagonizes the Kurdish people by all means, including military means, and added: "We have seen this clearly in Rojava."

Mashayekh pointed out that Turkish occupation state aims to eradicate the Kurdish people, in addition to settling strangers in place of the indigenous population, that is, the conduct of a demographic change process.

Mashayekh added: "Under the pretext of PKK's existence, the Turkish occupation state launches attacks that target villages in the region and target farmers, forcing them to abandon their agricultural lands and leave their areas."

Mashayekh also said that the Turkish occupation state launches its repeated attacks on legitimate defense zones and deliberately uses chemical weapons. He added, "It also seeks to expand in the Middle East and implement the Millî Pact, and all of this is happening amid the silence of the international community."

Mashayekh stressed: "If the unity of the Kurdish ranks is not achieved and the unified Kurdish reference is not formed, the practices and crimes of the Turkish state will not stop."

Mashayekh pointed to the need to pressure both Russia and America because the Turkish state's policy in all parts of Kurdistan harms the Kurdish people, and said: "The Baghdad government must work to stop the Turkish state's attacks on Southern Kurdistan because Southern Kurdistan is part of Iraq, but Baghdad so is the Arab League still silent."

In the conclusion of his speech, Mostafa Mashayekh stressed the need to hold a national conference at the level of the four parts of Kurdistan, as well as the formation of a Kurdish political reference. He ended his speech by saying: "The Kurdish people must be vigilant and wary about the attacks of the Turkish state, as well as the political and military cooperation between Southern Kurdistan and Rojava must be strengthened."
