Kobani - Dijla Ahmed

On the 27th of last January, the Turkish occupation state reduced the Euphrates River level flowing from its lands to the Syrian lands from 500 cubic meters to 200 cubic meters per second, which led to a decrease in water levels and turned it into a large swamp of epidemics due to shells and marine clams in it.

The photos and videos taken by Hawar News Agency correspondents show that the water has started to pollute on both sides of the river, which poses a threat to human and animal lives alike, and portends an environmental and humanitarian catastrophe in Syria in the coming days.

Earlier, the dam management in North and East Syria warned of the advent of a real great humanitarian catastrophe, after the pollution that struck the Euphrates River due to the low water levels, and the flow of algae and shells that cause dangerous diseases such as cholera.

In addition to fears that drinking water will be affected by the decline, as well as the agricultural sector, because thousands of hectares of land planted with irrigated wheat depend mainly on the Euphrates River.
