The martyr Hayes al-Jaryan al-Hassan, one of the dignitaries of the Banu Sabaa clans, left his mark clearly through his prominent role in resolving tribal disputes, but his attempt to persuade the "National Defense" mercenaries to stop the attack did not deter them from targeting him.

Who is Hayes?

The martyr Hayes al-Jaryan al-Hasan, born in the village of Sharmukh Kabir in Tal Hamis district in Qamishlo district, born in 1966, grew up in a national family, completed his primary education in his village, had 8 children. 

He is one of the dignitaries of the Banu Sabaa clans in the southern Qamishlo region. He had a remarkable social status among components of the region, and a prominent role within his clan.

After the death of his father, Sheikh Jaryan al-Hassan, in 2009, the Wajih of the al-Jaryan clan, he took over the duties of his father in leading the clan and he became the Wajih of the al-Jaryan clan after his father.

'Martyrdom of Lawrence'

The notable martyr Hayes al-Jaryan got acquainted with the brotherhood of peoples project (the democratic nation) with the start of the Rojava revolution, and joined it since the beginning of 2013 and included his eldest son Lawrence in the ranks of the People's Protection Units, to fight ISIS mercenaries.

His son Lawrence al-Jaryan was martyred on October 6, 2014, while he was liberating his village from ISIS mercenaries, and many of his clansmen formed a battalion in his name.

The martyr’s brother, Hayes al-Jaryan, Shaalan al-Jaryan, confirmed that the martyrdom of his brother’s son opened the way for dozens of their clan’s members to join the People's Protection Units and the Syrian Democratic Forces and approximately 10 cousins of Sheikh Hayes Jaryan Al Hassan "

'Influential role'

Shaalan pointed out that his brother Hayes had a social status among the community, and a prominent role in the region in general, and with his involvement in the ideology of the democratic nation, he played an influential role in ending the tensions that occur between the internal security forces on the one hand and the forces of the Damascus government and its supporters. "

Stressing that the martyr Hayes al-Jaryan, according to his social standing, was aiming to prohibit bloodshed in the region, so he was assigned the task of mediating between the Internal Security Forces and the mercenaries of the so-called National Defense of the Damascus government.

As for Hayes al-Jaryan’s son, Dirar al-Jaryan, spoke about his father’s virtues and said: “He lived all his life loving peace, and devoted it to resolving disputes between clans.

'Messenger of peace'

The city of Qamishlo has witnessed clashes between the Internal Security Forces and the mercenaries of the National Defense since April 20, after the latter targeted a checkpoint of the Internal Security Forces near Al-Wehda roundabout and killed a member of the forces.

After violent clashes within four days, the dignitaries of the Arab clans intervened to prohibit bloodshed and persuade the mercenaries of the National Defense to stop attacking the Internal Security Forces, and the martyr Hayes Al-Jryan was assigned the task of mediating between the two parties.

After he left the coordinated meeting between the Internal Security Forces and the clans for a ceasefire, on April 23, a sniper targeted him in front of his house, northeast of the National Hospital in Qamishlo, under the fire control of the mercenaries of the National Defense, leading to his death.

He laid to rest at the martyr Dalil Sarukhan shrine in Qamishlo city on Friday, with the participation of the families and notables of the Arab clans.
