Yerli Kaya said that breaches are underway in the Turkish jails and that due to no access to the detainees information on their conditions are obscure.

In a former report filed by the CPT in 2019 it was mentioned that the system established in Imrali has never witnessed changes since 2016.

In turn, the Marmara Coordination that follows conditions of the hunger strikers in the Turkish jails noted that isolation is being imposed systematically against detainees since 2000 as a serious danger to health and lives of detainees.

In his evaluation of the wellbeing of leader Abdullah Ocalan and other political detainees Kaya said:'' information on the maltreatment that contradict democracy and human rights inside the jails are still emerging. We have issued many warnings but the Turkish authoritie4s disregard that, unfortunately, nothing has taken place, all conditions in the jails helps in contracting the COVID-19 as a big number have contracted the virus, many deaths were announced, in spite of all laws the Turkish authorities pay no attention to that that pose grave dangers to their lives''.

Services and medical access are of the major rights of the political detainees, '' at any rate, medication ought to be guaranteed, that is the responsibility of the state. Detainees whatever their charges are they should not be forbidden access to medication and right to life'', he said.

'' information are obscure because independent bodies and doctors are not allowed access to the jails,  that obstructs the way to get information on the health of detainees'', he said.

Since November 27th, 2020, thousands of political detainees are on hunger strike as demanding the release from prison of leader Abdullah Ocalan and to make improvement on the conditions inside the jails to which Kaya called for dialogue to meet their demands.
