Earthquake hits Sulaymaniyah and its environs, no damage reported

The cities of Sulaymaniyah and Halabja and their environs in the Kurdistan region were subjected to an earthquake with a magnitude of 5.2 on the Richter scale.

According to media outlets in the region, the earthquake lasted for five seconds. The global seismic observatories stated that the epicenter of the quake was recorded near the city of Mariwan, in western Iran.

Citizens sensed the tremor in the center of Sulaymaniyah and its surroundings, Halabja and its outskirts, as well as Chamchamal, Soran, Darbandikhan, and other areas.

No reports of injuries or damage have been obtained so far.
