HDP MP Meral Danış: the more attacks against us, the more we become powerful

Vice-President of the Democratic Peoples’ Party Bloc (HDP) and the parliamentarian Meral Danış Beştaş, stated that the various methods of attacks and attempts to close their party aim to keep the HDP out of politics, but due to the lack of incriminating evidence, it is unlikely that the closure will take place in this way.

Beştaş said: "For a long time, the HDP has been under a systematic attack under different pretexts. These attacks have nothing to do with rights. Recently, attacks have increased and the government continues its preparations for early elections and its only goal is to continue in power. The AKP / MHP government wants this repressive and totalitarian regime to go on, to achieve this, they are trying to distance our party from democratic politics, our party has a clear role in the elections, and instead of the government cooperating with us in the elections, it seeks to use the judiciary as a means of pressure and repression against us.

'European reactions are weak'

Meral Danış Beştaş stated that the European countries react to these attacks in a weak manner, and she continued, “We ​​continue our diplomatic activities, share our views with them. When the AKP / MHP coalition attacks us, it is at the same time making various promises to the outside world. ”There is tension with The United States of America about the S-400 deal, it is clear that the world did not respond to the AKP / MHP alliance because they have international interests. Unfortunately, this matter appears in international politics as well. "

Regarding the popular reaction to the pressures on HDP, Meral Daniş Beştaş said: “We see that our voices are increasing day after day, support is increasing, the alliance is growing, and the best example of this was the millions of people who went to the squares on Newruz and defended HDP despite all of all forms of pressure and threats of arrest. "The case against Omar Farouk is illegal"

Meral Danış Beştaş drew attention to the arrest of the representative of the HDP, Omar Farouk Gergerlioğlu’nun, and said: “The case of Umar Farouk from beginning to end is illegal. The case continued and was quickly read in Parliament, and it was approved to lift his immunity. These are all political decisions, and there is no legal basis for them."

Beştaş stated that their struggle will continue non-stop, and said: “Our determination is very clear, as people are rallying around us day after day, solidarity with us increases, and our strength continues to grow, because everyone sees the truth and realizes that HDP has the right and legitimacy, so we will continue our approach by following democratic politics, and we will grow up on this basis. With regard to the efforts to close the HDP, Danış said: “First and foremost, the HDP will not be closed. I am confident of this. My faith is not an empty wish. The HDP is the holder of 15% of the vote in Turkey. The third largest party, we are ready to continue our civil policy against all forms of corruption. "
