Components' solidarity thwarted Baath Party's plots

In conjunction with the 17^th anniversary of the March 12^th Uprising, and to learn about its causes and consequences, our agency met with members of several political parties in Sheikh Maqsoud and Ashrafieh neighborhoods in Aleppo city.

The Member of the Syrian Kurdish Democratic Party, Ramzi Sheikh Moss, described the Qamishlo Uprising as the beginning of the Syrian movement. He said: "It was a conspiracy by the chauvinist Baath Party to sow discord between Arabs and Kurds, but that conspiracy failed by the components' solidarity."

Ramzi continued his speech: "Today we see the people of north and east Syria adhere to their unity under the Autonomous Administration, adopting the principle of peoples' brotherhood as a way for them to live a free and equitable life and to build a democratic and pluralistic Syria."

For her part, the Spokeswoman for the Women's Council of the Future Syria Party in Aleppo, Khaleda Abdo, said: "Qamishlo Uprising was a conspiracy orchestrated by the Baathist regime against the peoples of the region aimed at creating strife among the components of the region, but this chauvinist policy ended in failure because the will of the peoples yearning for freedom has proven that they are not drawn into conspiracies."

At the end of her speech, Khaleda appealed to all Syrian women to stand together to seek to create a democratic, pluralistic and decentralized Syria.

As for the Member of the Syrian Kurdish Democratic Party, Mohammed Haydar, he noted that the Baath Party, since its establishment, has been trying to sow discord among the peoples of the region. He said: "The Baath Party seeks to sow discord among the components of the region for targeting the principle of peoples' fraternity, and we see them today in Deir Ezzor trying to support cells and groups to sow discord between Arab tribes to destabilize security in the region because they know well that these conflicts will be foiled within the project of the democratic nation."

He added, "Our people sacrificed a lot of martyrs who were victims of those plots and strife, but their blood and sacrifices were the spark that led to the outbreak of the Syrian movement."
